It goes without saying that one of the most challenging parts of planning an event is
choosing the perfect venue. Be it a wedding, or a corporate event, booking the right venue
can be a stressful process. But, with the wedding season upon us, the task becomes all the
more daunting and difficult. Nowadays, most grooms and brides-to-be look for unique
wedding venues that compliments their themes, choices and personalities. Hence, the
search for the ideal wedding venue often ends up being tiresome and endless. And to add to
this, all the incorrect information about booking a venue that’s circulating online, only
makes the process harder.
So, in order to help you out, here are some common wedding venue myths we’ve debunked:
Myth 1 – Early booking is essential:
I know right! Hard to believe this is the first myth on the list. But start believing because it’s
true. Normally, it is a good idea to book the venue for your wedding reception as early as
possible. A year to nine months before the wedding is considered to be the best time.
However, the emphasis here is on the word ‘normally.’ What most people do not know is
that last-minute wedding plans often come with significant savings. Be it with venues,
catering, decor, florists, or photographers, an unplanned wedding puts you in a great
position as long as you’re flexible on availability. Remember, most suppliers would prefer to
fill a gap in their schedule by reducing their prices than having no bookings at all.
Myth 2 – Decorations can cost you thousands:
This may be the case with some venues, but most venues these days offer all-inclusive
wedding packages that are both convenient and cost-effective for couples. Usually, people
end up spending a fortune on wedding decorations. But before you do so, ask yourself, is it
really that necessary? It’s important to understand the beauty of less is more, especially if
you have a venue with a beautiful setting that’s architecturally stunning. If you go for a
packaged deal, the venue itself will take care of all the major aspects required for your
wedding. From catering to photography, table linens, printed menus and décor, everything
becomes available at the venue free of any extra charge. So, there is no need to start your
venue search with the expectation that you will need to spend extra money on additional
materials or services.
Myth 3 – You have to use your venue’s suppliers:
Even if you find your dream venue and it’s within your budget, there’s still one hurdle you
have to cross. And that is – a list of recommended suppliers from the chosen venue. These
days, venues and banquet halls present you with a list of suppliers for services such as floral
preparations and entertainment. Typically, they are vendors who have prior experience
dealing with that particular venue, and sometimes, selecting the venue’s recommended
vendors may have some additional benefits. However, there’s no compulsion to use these
companies. You can very well use your own suppliers if you find a better deal, and by no
means are you limited to using the suppliers provided by the venue.
Myth 4 – Exclusive venue means expensive venue:
Your wedding day is undoubtedly one of the most special days of your life. And wanting an
exclusive property as your wedding venue is natural. However, it’s a common myth that
exclusivity comes at a price. If you’ve ruled out an exclusive venue on cost grounds, then
think again. Picking a venue exclusively does not mean you have to burn a hole in your
pocket. The trick is to plan an off-season wedding or a winter wedding when there will be
less rush.
